Can an owner rework or replant the garden area near the driveway (i.e., remove a dead plant and revamp the garden bed)?

In short:

• The first thing to do is talk to your neighbour about what you would like to do if the garden adjoins 2 lots.
• The gardens are on common property in most cases, so if you and your neighbour have agreed, the next step is send a proposal to the committee. In most cases, if the proposal fits with the rest of the scheme’s landscaping, we will be able to approve it.

The Secretary clarified that the driveway garden area is common property and cannot be altered by a lot owner unilaterally. The Chair explained the process: the owner should speak to their neighbours to get agreement, and then submit a request to the committee. The committee will vote on the request. The Chair added he could not imagine it would be an issue if neighbours were on board.
